ABC Subcontractor of the Year 2011

Once again Southland Concrete has been awarded Subcontractor of the Year for 2011 by ABC of Metro Washington. General Contractors across the region continue to pick Southland Concrete as their number one concrete subcontractor.  Southland has now received this prestigious award (5) times in the last (10) years including 2002, 2003, 2006, 2010 and 2011. We would like to thank all of our customers and suppliers for your continued support and the vote of confidence to provide the opportunities as we will continue "Setting the Pace" for many years to come.

Southland Concrete has been in the commercial concrete subcontracting business since 1973. We continually perform work for the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area’s many general contractors in both the private and public sector. We perform cast-in-place concrete work for Steel Frame office buildings, Tilt Up Construction, Data Centers, Warehouse, Shopping Centers, Concrete Frame and Post tension structures as well as foundations for Precast Parking structures. Starting in 2011 Southland has redirected it’s focus towards the smaller to mid-range projects varying in contract size from the smaller $100,000  to $500,000 as well as midsize up to $2-$4 million range.  Typical projects consist of new construction, renovations and additions with work predominately concentrated in Virginia, Maryland and DC.

In addition to our traditional new building construction services, Southland has a very competitive Special Projects Division (SPD) which performs every type of concrete construction work from small renovations and additions right up to and including stand alone new construction.  These projects can range in value from $30,000 up to $1,000,000.  These projects are performed by highly trained and specialized crews with the full support and back up necessary from all entities within Southland Concrete.

Other areas of service include placing rebar as well as offering our place and finish services to outside customers on projects we were not awarded as the prime subcontractor.  We also place significant value in our strategic alliance and mentoring with our small business partners and apprenticeship training programs.

Southland Concrete is recognized throughout the construction industry as a leader in concrete

subcontracting as evidenced by the continual repeat business and negotiated nature of the subcontracts we are awarded. We are a large growing company with a small company mentality to maintain the necessary attention to customer service, customer and supplier relations, and above all quality, safety, and timely completion of all projects. There is no doubt why Southland Concrete is the subcontractor of choice and will continue  “Setting the Pace” for many years to come.
